The Riyadh International Book Fair wrapped up on Friday, once again proving to be a vibrant celebration of ideas culture and creativity. This year’s event featured a variety of standout booths an each bringing something unique to the literary and cultural scene.
One of the most talked-about exhibits was Samawi a Saudi platform aiming to revolutionize publishing with its innovative print-on-demand service. Instead of printing large batches in advance Samawi allows authors to upload their books and only prints them when someone places an order. This approach cuts costs for writers and removes the need for bulk storage, while also creating direct links between authors and bookstores to boost distribution and reach.
We serve writers, publishers, and readers by offering technical support across the publishing spectrum from reading and writing to printing, e-books, and audiobooks,” said Khaled Bamohamad, CEO of Samawi.
Samawi’s flexibility extends to both printing and distribution, and its Samawi Reader app now gives users access to a growing library of digital content. We started in 2022 with e-books. Today we have 20,000 e-books and more than 5,000 audiobooks, Bamohamad explained. “At every exhibition, we unveil new services such as reading speed analysis and enhanced reading tools.
