RIYADH: The Royal Saudi Naval Forces and the Royal Navy of Oman took part in live-fire missile and ammunition drills on Friday as part of the “Winds of Peace 2026” joint naval exercise that started earlier this week in Oman.
The exercises include ten battle ships, a handful of the helicopters, and two platoons of Special Naval Security Units. The Saudi Press Agency said that Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Gharibi, the head of the Saudi troops, and Rear Adm. Saif Al-Rahbi, its the head of the Omani navy, were there for the drills.
The organization said that they included a number of complex operational scenarios that replicated modern naval combat, the protection of shipping routes, and the improvement of maritime security, all of which were meant to help regional security and prosperity.
