RIYADH: A new index that gauges preparedness and encourages the creation of creative, data-driven solutions in important industries will help Saudi government agencies promote the use of AI. The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority launched the National Artificial Intelligence Index to evaluate the level of AI deployment maturity across all government agencies. According to the Saudi Press Agency, more than 180 representatives took part in the first measurement cycle, which also intends to offer customized recommendations and routinely monitor progress.
The program supports more general government goals, such as being in the top 10 of the Open Data Index, among the top 15 nations in the world in AI, and in the top 20 for data and AI-related publications under the National Strategy for Data and Artificial Intelligence. PwC projects that by 2030, artificial intelligence would account for $235.2 billion, or 12.4%, of Saudi Arabia’s GDP. According to SPA, “the index aims to unify government efforts and national priorities in the field of AI and provide the enabling capabilities to enable government agencies to adopt and develop effective and sustainable AI products and solutions that contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.”
