CAIRO — Saudi Arabia and twenty other Arab and Islamic nations reaffirmed their rejection and condemnation of the Israeli airstrikes on Iran. The foreign ministers of these nations voiced their alarm over the risky escalation that jeopardises regional peace and stability in a joint statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry. The foreign ministers demanded a rapid ceasefire and de-escalation. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Bahrain, Brunei Darussalam, Turkey, Chad, Algeria, the Union of the Comoros, Djibouti, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, and Mauritania are among the nations that have signed.
The Israeli attacks on Iran since the morning of June 13 and actions that go against international law and the UN Charter’s tenets were denounced and rejected by the foreign ministers. They underlined the need of upholding the concepts of good neighbourliness, peaceful conflict settlement, and state sovereignty and territorial integrity. In line with UN agreements, the foreign ministers emphasised the significance of establishing a region free of nuclear and WMDs in the Middle East. They called on all nations in the area to indiscriminately ratify the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
