Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkiye, Qatar, and Egypt have voiced support for a new peace initiative unveiled by US President Donald Trump aimed at ending the war in Gaza. The plan was announced during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of the eight countries welcomed Trump’s “sincere efforts” and expressed confidence in his ability to help chart a course toward peace. They emphasized the importance of cooperation with Washington, describing the proposal as an opportunity to move closer to a comprehensive settlement and regional stability, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The 20-point peace plan includes provisions for a ceasefire, a staged Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the release of hostages held by Hamas in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, and the disarmament of Hamas. It also outlines international and support for Gaza’s reconstruction humanitarian aid supervised by neutral international organizations such as the UN and Red Crescent and assurances that Palestinians would not be forcibly displaced from the territory. The proposal further suggests the creation of a transitional authority, with Arab and global involvement, to oversee Gaza’s security.
