RIYADH: The Saudi Tourism Authority and VisitBritain, the national tourism organisation of the United Kingdom, have signed a statement of intent to advance and expand tourism.
According to the agreement signed at the GREAT Futures Conference, the two kingdoms will collaborate and share knowledge about domestic and foreign tourism.
According to VisitBritain’s prediction, Saudi Arabia is expected to send 240,000 tourists to the UK this year, up 9% from 2019. Additionally, it forecasts that tourists will spend £752 million ($65.56 million) on their travels, a 20% increase from 2019.
“Today we’ve signed an MoU… because we want to encourage and learn about ‘how do we encourage more Saudis to come to the UK’ and ‘how do we get more members of Great Britain to come over to Saudi Arabia,'” said UK Secretary of State for Culture, Media, and Sport Lucy Frazer to Arab News.
Although our relationship has always been strong, it is becoming closer as Saudi Arabia goes through this significant social and economic transformation.
“It’s so dynamic and has so many ambitions for the future,” she continued. And we want to be a strong partner in that here in the UK. We are thus working together in a variety of fields, exchanging best practices, knowledge, and expertise.
