JEDDAH: According to a formal statement, Saudi Arabia will, as of October 6, waive all fees associated with customs services about exports and reduce import service fees to 0.15 per cent of the value of the goods.
These adjustments were announced by the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority to streamline trade procedures and encourage commercial activity. The processing of customs declarations for individual shipments from online stores valued up to SR1,000 will now cost SR15 ($4) under the new fee structure.
In the past, import fees included SR20 for processing customs declarations, SR100 for information exchange services, and SR100 for X-ray inspections per container. The revised system sets a minimum fee of SR15 and a maximum fee of SR500 for imports.
The modifications aim to improve competitiveness and lessen the financial burden on exporters, especially small and medium-sized businesses. The revised fee schedule will bring uniformity to air, sea, and land transportation expenses, resulting in increased trade facilitation and financial gains.ZATCA has outlined the anticipated effects of its new customs fee waiver for Saudi companies, emphasising that the improvements will improve the export industry’s efficiency and competitiveness.
