Saudi Arabia has 2,000 Registrations, Making it the Region Leader in Green Building Projects

RIYADH: According to a top official, Saudi Arabia has achieved great progress in sustainable development, registering 2,000 of the 5,000 green building projects in the Arab world.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, Minister of Municipalities and Housing Majed Al-Hogail emphasised the Kingdom’s many achievements in this field while speaking at the inauguration of the 14th annual Saudi Green Building Forum, which was held in Riyadh from 6-8 October.

The rise in green building projects is a direct result of Saudi Arabia’s fast population expansion and growing environmental consciousness, which is propelling the country’s transition to energy-efficient buildings and the use of more environmentally friendly building materials.

According to market research firm Prescient & Strategic Intelligence, the Saudi green building market is estimated to bring in $16.4 billion this year and expand at a compound annual rate of 12.3 percent to reach $33.0 billion by 2030.

These developments reflect the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable practices, fostering a qualitative transformation in urban development,” Al-Hogail stated during his speech. He went on to say that this project demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to improving the effectiveness of the country’s use of natural resources, cutting carbon emissions, and developing safe and healthy urban areas.
