JEDDAH: To promote the Kingdom’s economic growth, Saudi Arabia has established a non-profit organisation to assist mining and industrial companies in implementing the highest standards of sustainability, social responsibility, and governance.
The group was established, according to the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, to encourage industrial and mining companies to embrace sustainable and ethical business practices.
In line with Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2060, Saudi companies are progressively adopting environmental, social, and governance principles to promote sustainable growth, solidifying their standing as a regional leader in sustainability.
In keeping with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, the project also seeks to enhance the sector’s contributions and direct influence on the national economy’s gross domestic product,” the ministry stated in a statement.
According to the press release, the project is a component of the ministry’s larger initiatives to strengthen non-profits in the mining and industry sectors, highlighting its conviction that these groups can contribute to the Kingdom’s social and economic advancement.
