Saudi Arabia Observes World Day Against Human Trafficking by Implementing Extensive Changes and Forming International Alliances

On Tuesday, Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri, the chair of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons and the president of Saudi Arabia’s Human Rights Commission, confirmed that the Kingdom has put in place an integrated system to combat human trafficking, based on institutional measures and extensive reforms that are in line with global best practices.

Speaking on the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Al-Tuwaijri emphasized that the Kingdom’s current initiatives are a direct result of King Salman bin Abdulaziz’s orders as Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the ongoing assistance of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

By ratifying the National Policy to Eliminate Forced Labor and enacting changes to numerous laws and regulations that safeguard victims, whistleblowers, witnesses, and experts involved in anti-trafficking cases, Saudi Arabia has strengthened its legislative and regulatory framework, according to Al-Tuwaijri.

She emphasised that the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons is committed to achieving lasting effects through the implementation of the National Action Plan, the establishment of a nationwide referral system, the approval of guidelines for crime indicators, and the development of an extensive nationwide database.
