RIYADH: According to a foreign ministry statement, Saudi Arabia denounced Monday the Iranian assault on sites in Qatar.
The statement said, “The aggression launched by Iran against the sister State of Qatar is a blatant violation of international law and good neighbourliness, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemns and denounces it in the strongest terms.”
“Under no circumstances can it be justified, and it is unacceptable,” it continued. According to the statement, the Kingdom is using all of its resources to assist Qatar in any actions it takes and has reaffirmed its solidarity and unwavering support for the nation.
In retaliation for the American bombardment of its nuclear installations early on Sunday morning, Iran began missile attacks on a US military station in Qatar on Monday. Although it stated it successfully intercepted the missiles and there were no known injuries, Qatar denounced the attack on Al-Udeid Air Base. Its airspace is now safe, it added.
The strike was characterised by the UAE as a blatant breach of Qatar’s airspace and sovereignty, as well as a blatant violation of both international law and the UN Charter. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that it will not tolerate any act that jeopardises the safety and security of Qatar or jeopardises regional peace and stability.
