Saudi Arabia to Join G20 Digital Economy and AI Talks in South Africa

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Alswaha, will participate in the upcoming G20 ministerial meetings on the digital economy and artificial intelligence (AI) held under South Africa’s chairmanship. The meetings are scheduled for September 29 and 30 in Cape Town, the country’s legislative capital.

Saudi Arabia’s engagement in these sessions reflects its growing leadership in global digital innovation which was prominently demonstrated during its previous G20 presidency when it launched a global roadmap for measuring the digital economy and introduced AI Ethics Principles to ensure responsible technology use.

To improve global collaboration and quicken the digital transition Minister of Alswaha is anticipated to engage in bilateral discussions with colleagues. Saudi Arabia has hopes to use these talks to further solidify its position as a world leader in AI and the digital economy, in keeping with its Vision 2030 goals.

South Africa’s focus on equitable digital development data governance, AI innovation and sustainable growth sets it apart as the G20 president. The meetings will bring together politicians and professionals seeking international guidelines for ethical AI use and equitable internet access.
