JEDDAH: As the Kingdom steps up its attempts to become a worldwide aviation centre, Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector surpassed its 2024 Saudization objective, attaining 14,317 national employees, or 124% of its 2025 goal. Women occupy 17% of leadership positions at airports, airlines, and ground services, according to the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
The program is a component of a larger labour market plan to support Saudization, a program that was started in 2011 and uses industry-specific quotas to encourage domestic employment in the private sector.
By mid-2024, it has assisted in bringing Saudi Arabia’s unemployment rate down from 12.8% in 2018 to 7.1 percent, exceeding the Vision 2030 target of 8%. By 2030, the Kingdom wants to reduce unemployment by 5%. GACA’s President, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, stated in a formal statement that the agency achieved significant outcomes in 2024 as a result of its “Saudization of Aviation Jobs” campaign.
He emphasised that this achievement exemplifies the Kingdom’s comprehensive growth in all areas and reflects the breadth and depth of the Vision 2030, the announcement continued. The 2024 annual report on Saudi Vision 2030, which revealed that the Kingdom has accomplished 93% of its strategic objectives during the previous nine years, was released at the same time as his remarks.
