Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan joined officials from the United Arab Emirates Egypt and the United States for a crucial quadrilateral meeting focused on the Sudan’s crisis held during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday. The talks centered on the latest developments in Sudan and emphasized the need for unified international efforts to tackle the country’s deepening humanitarian challenges.
Delegates discussed the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration which outlines commitments to protect civilians maintain Sudan’s stability and uphold its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The declaration calls for safe humanitarian access protection of civilian infrastructure, and a comprehensive transition to civilian-led governance reflecting the aspirations of the Sudanese people. This four countries renewed their pledge to the support of a three-month humanitarian truce followed by a permanent ceasefire and a transparent process for restoring peace and a civilian government. Regional leaders reiterated their support for the Sudanese people and underscored the importance of working together to help Sudan overcome its crisisto move towards a stable peaceful future.
