JEDDAH: The Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association is participating in the 16th World Scout Moot, which will be held in Portugal from July 25 to August 3. The worldwide event, which drew over 6,000 Rover Scouts from all around the world, formally started in Lisbon. It demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s ongoing participation in worldwide scouting programs aimed at promoting global citizenship and cross-cultural understanding.
As part of the program, participants engage on an exploration tour throughout several areas of Portugal through the “Paths” project, which aims to immerse young scouts in the country’s unique landscapes and cultures. The delegation then travels to the main camp in Bucaco, near Porto, where they will participate in five days of activities centered on cultural exchange, environmental awareness, and traditional Portuguese practices.
According to Mubarak bin Awad Al-Dosari, the Saudi Scouts media officer, “A total of 93 Saudi participants are taking part in the event, including 72 rovers, both male and female from various sectors of the association, 17 members of the International Service Team, and an administrative team composed of 4 individuals.” He went on to say, “Activities include workshops, exploratory hiking expeditions, visits to sites in different Portuguese cities, and programs that promote networking and friendship-building.
