JEDDAH: Through a week-long music festival that includes discussions, musical performances, and jam sessions, Jeddah is honouring the deep creative links between Saudi Arabia and France.
The French Embassy and consulate in Jeddah, in collaboration with the Alliance Francaise, Art Jameel, Call of Culture, Music Home, Sout Albalad, and Siddharta Lounge, is hosting Music Week in Jeddah: A Franco-Saudi Celebration, which began on June 21 in honour of World Music Day and will run through June 27.
The French musician SONGE’s DJ set at Siddharta Lounge by Buddha Bar on Tuesday was one of the highlighted events. Through her music, she hopes to “break boundaries and create inclusive spaces where diverse voices and energies can connect,” she told Arab News.
On Monday, Music Home sponsored the Ninth Artistic Music and Music Education Forum, GUITARRAMA, which brought together a number of professionals and musicians. Anouar Kablaoui, the forum’s creator and instructor at Music Home Higher Institute, led the push. The guitar, a traditionally Western instrument, is being reimagined within Arabic musical aesthetics, jazz vocabularies, and local creative industries,” stated Kablaoui in the ninth edition.
