MAKKAH: During the current holy month of Ramadan, the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has initiated the first trial operation of the ritual of leaving the state of Ihram after completing the rituals in the Grand Mosque courtyard. This project is a component of continuous endeavors to improve pilgrim services and the Umrah experience.
Following the completion of the ceremonies, pilgrims can leave their ihram by shaving their heads or cutting their hair at five specific spots across from the Marwa region. During times of heavy traffic, these stations can be moved as necessary. They are manned by skilled professionals who use completely sterile equipment, guaranteeing effective service delivery while upholding the strictest safety and quality requirements.
In order to give guests of the Grand Mosque a unique experience, the authority is trying to develop services within the Two Holy Mosques by implementing several new services while upholding standards of effectiveness and quality. According to Mohammed Asiri, a religious researcher and expert on Hajj and Umrah affairs, leaving the Ihram after finishing the Umrah rites is a crucial last step. After finishing Sa’i between Safa and Marwa, pilgrims shave their heads or cut their hair.
