On Wednesday, members of the Ministerial Committee established by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza met with UN Secretary General António Guterres in New York. The committee is led by Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
The committee members praised UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ efforts and courageous stands taken during the crisis, particularly in terms of protecting people and providing humanitarian assistance.
The ministerial committee met on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss ways to intensify Arab and Islamic action during the General Assembly’s work to support efforts to activate recognition of the Palestinian state and ensure the fulfilment of the Palestinian people’s rights to embody their independent, sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with occupied Jerusalem as
The group examined the hazardous events in the Gaza Strip, as well as the ongoing military escalation by Israeli occupation forces against unarmed civilians. The summit emphasised the joint attitude of Arab and Islamic countries in denouncing the Israeli occupation forces’ ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people.
