RIYADH: The Makkah Route Initiative in Saudi Arabia has been praised by Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu as an example of the Kingdom’s commitment to Islam and Muslims. At the initiative’s recent launch in his nation, he stated, “Their leadership of the Islamic world represents an exemplary model of giving, unity, and service, not only at the two holy mosques but throughout the entire Islamic world, confirming the Kingdom’s pivotal role in leading with wisdom and mercy in serving Islam.”
“This groundbreaking initiative, created by Saudi Arabia under its wise leadership and kindly provided within the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Guests Program emerging from Saudi Vision 2030, will benefit Maldivian pilgrims for the first time,” Muizzu continued. All passport, customs, and health screening processes may be completed from the departure location, Velana International Airport, thanks to the initiative.
Muizzu expressed gratitude to the Saudi interior ministry, the Hajj and Umrah ministries, and other organisations for their support. “For the benefit of the entire Islamic nation, we reaffirm our profound gratitude and appreciation for the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia, and we look forward to strengthening cooperation and joint work under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his crown prince.” Currently, the program is functioning in eight nations, including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Morocco, and Ivory Coast.
