LONDON: In a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart on Tuesday, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan praised a ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel.
According to the Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Mohamed expressed his hope that the deal will “serve as a foundation for enhancing stability, security, and peace across the Middle East” to President Masoud Pezeshkian. Assure the agreement’s success in a way that benefits all the countries and peoples of the region,” Sheikh Mohamed continued.
Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for the UAE’s stance during the recent Israeli airstrikes on Iran.
A day after Iran launched an attack on a US military facility in Qatar in retaliation for the US bombing of its nuclear installations, the ceasefire deal mediated by US President Donald Trump went into effect on Monday.
Nearly all of the Iranian missiles were intercepted during Monday’s attack on the Al-Udeid Air Base, which the UAE “condemned in the strongest terms.
