RIYADH: According to the Saudi Press Agency, senior representatives from Syria’s new government met with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman at a high level on Thursday in Riyadh. In order to fulfill the ambitions of the Syrian people and maintain the country’s security, stability, and territorial integrity, the talks centered on furthering Syria’s transitional political process, according to SPA.
Foreign Minister Asaad bin Hassan Al-Shaibani led the Syrian delegation, which also included Chief of the General Intelligence Service Anas Khattab and Defense Minister Major General Marhaf Abu Qasra. Prominent Saudi officials also attended the meeting, including Prince Abdulrahman bin Mohammed, Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of General Intelligence Khalid bin Ali Al-Humaidan; Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs;
On Wednesday evening, a high-level Syrian delegation landed in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Deputy FM Waleed Elkhereiji welcomed the team at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Al-Shibani said on X Monday that he has accepted his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan’s offer to travel to the Kingdom. This would be his first international trip since Syrian President Bashar Assad was overthrown on December 8.
