THE TEL AVIV/ISTANBUL/HAGUE: In spite of doubts about the harm caused by US attacks, US President Donald Trump expressed his satisfaction with the quick conclusion of the Iran-Israel war and stated that he now anticipated a relationship with Tehran that would prohibit it from re-establishing its nuclear program. Iran’s president implied that the conflict would result in domestic reforms as both Israelis and Iranians, both worn out and nervous after the most severe battle between the two enemies in history, tried to return to their regular lives.
Speaking at a NATO conference in The Hague on Wednesday, Trump said that the conflict was over and referred to it as “a victory for everybody” after deciding to join Israel’s assault by using massive bunker-busting bombs to target Iranian nuclear targets. He dismissed a preliminary analysis by the US Defence Intelligence Agency that suggested Iran’s nuclear weapons development may have been delayed by just a few months, stating that the results were “inconclusive” and that he thought the sites had been destroyed. It was really bad. It was obliteration,” he said.
