President Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK has sparked a wave of multibillion-dollar investment pledges from US tech giants, with a total of $42 billion committed to boosting Britain’s artificial intelligence sector. Alongside these announcements, London and Washington signed a new “Tech Prosperity Deal” covering cooperation in nuclear energy, space, and advanced technology.
Leading the commitments, Microsoft announced its single largest UK investment: $30 billion spread over four years. Half of this will go toward AI and cloud infrastructure, including plans to build Britain’s largest supercomputer. CEO Satya Nadella said the move reflects Microsoft’s aim to “double down” on opportunities in the UK and strengthen US-UK tech ties.
British firm Nscale is teaming up with Nvidia and OpenAI to launch a UK version of “Stargate,” a massive AI infrastructure initiative. Nvidia will deploy 120,000 advanced GPUs its biggest rollout in Europe to power the project.
Global financial giants including Bank of America, BlackRock, Citi, PayPal, and S&P Global will jointly invest around £1.75 billion to expand UK operations. Meanwhile, the UK and US agreed to accelerate new nuclear power projects as part of efforts to secure clean energy. Both governments are committed to advancing AI-driven healthcare, developing revolutionary quantum computers, and supporting space exploration projects through collaboration.
