LONDON: On Wednesday, an independent British assessment chastised police for not apprehending the wife of a US diplomat who killed a British youngster in a car accident in 2019 before leaving the nation. Harry Dunn, 19, died in an accident that created a diplomatic issue between the United States and the United Kingdom. As a result, his family met with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
After driving on the wrong side of the road near the US military base at RAF Croughton in Northamptonshire, Anne Sacoolas claimed to have diplomatic immunity in the days that followed. Sacoolas departed Britain shortly after colliding with Dunn on his motorbike in the August 2019 tragedy. Her spouse was an intelligence official, and she has been believed to have been a CIA agent.
Ivan Balhatchet, the chief constable of Northamptonshire, ordered the review, which stated that “information received that Anne Sacoolas was in shock” was one of the reasons why she wasn’t arrested. It stated that although cops are concerned about the wellbeing of everyone, Anne Sacoolas’ arrest shouldn’t have been stopped because of this. According to the study, cops decided that Dunn’s injuries were treatable, and if they hadn’t, they would have arrested him.
