Who Was Alireza Tangsiri? Inside the Life of Iran’s Naval Commander

JERUSALEM: Israel said Thursday that an airstrike killed the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s fleet. The death of Alireza Tangsiri was confirmed by Admiral. According to Brad Cooper, the chief of US Central Command, the assassination has sent Iran’s navy into “irreversible decline.”

He claimed that weeks of US and Israeli strikes had destroyed the majority of its larger ships and severely limited its ability to project power. According to Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, Tangsiri was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Wednesday night.

According to Katz, the “precise and lethal operation” resulted in the deaths of several top navy personnel. The man who was directly responsible for the terrorist operation of mining and closing the Strait of Hormuz to shipping was blown up and killed.

Israel reported that Iran’s naval intelligence chief, Behnam Rezaei, was also killed. Rezaei was the “central knowledge authority in maritime intelligence,” according to the Israeli military.

Iran did not immediately acknowledge the executions. In recent days, Israeli forces have launched several strikes against Iran’s naval assets. Last week, Israeli aircraft hit multiple Iranian military ships in the Caspian Sea, including missile systems, support vessels, and patrol boats.
