RIYADH: Abdullah Saleh Kamel, chairman of the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that Makkah is not only the spiritual heart of the Islamic world but also a city with immense potential to become a global leader in smart cities. He made these remarks during a cultural gathering attended by dignitaries, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, and media leaders as part of the 34th season of Al-Abdali Ahadiya, held on Sunday.
Kamel highlighted the strong support extended by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, who chairs the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites. He praised the Crown Prince’s commitment to advancing development projects in Makkah and the holy sites, noting the close cooperation between the Makkah Chamber and the Royal Commission. Kamel described the Makkah Masar project as a significant advancement in the city’s transport and logistics systems.
According to Kamel, the ongoing urban development, transportation, and organizational projects reflect an ambitious vision that strengthens both the religious and economic position of Makkah. He also shed light on the city’s comprehensive development plan across multiple sectors, including infrastructure, urban planning, and investment services.
