RIYADH: According to a Saudi Press Agency report, the second International Space Debris Conference will be held in Riyadh from January 26–27, 2026, by the Saudi Space Agency. The occasion is a portion of the agency’s endeavors to bolster the Kingdom’s position as a pioneer in international space industry sustainability measures.
The conference’s objectives are to support strategies for the long-term sustainability of the space environment, encourage international collaboration on sustainable solutions and cutting-edge technologies, establish cooperative policies to mitigate the increasing impact of space debris, and stimulate international dialogue. The organization asked anyone who were interested to sign up at ssa.gov.sa/SDC26. Additionally, it announced that the worldwide DebriSolver Competition will begin during the meeting.
With an emphasis on technological, legal, financial, and social factors, the competition looks for creative answers to space debris problems. Applications are being accepted via ssa.gov.sa/c-ar, and the competition registration deadline is August 30.
Participants from more than 50 nations, as well as international organizations and multinational corporations, attended the inaugural edition, which took place in Riyadh in 2024. It concluded with suggestions aimed at enhancing understanding of the importance of space debris management.
