RIYADH: The winners of the fourth 48-Hour Film Challenge were revealed at a ceremony hosted at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah by the Red Sea Film Foundation and the Consulate General of France in Jeddah. French Consul General Mohammed Nehad, Red Sea Film Foundation Managing Director Shivani Malhotra Pandya, and Acting CEO Mohammed Al-Asiri attended the occasion.
According to the foundation, the challenge was arranged in collaboration with the Alliance Francaise, the French Embassy in Riyadh, and the Consulate General of France in Jeddah with the goal of inspiring young artists to experiment and offer novel viewpoints in their film endeavours.
In addition to taking part in an artist residency program at one of France’s top film schools in 2025, both teams will get the chance to screen their films at the Red Sea International Film Festival in 2024. The challenge, which took place on July 26–27, required players to write, shoot, and edit a short film in under 48 hours.
Before the challenge, participants underwent two days of intense sessions and expert industry mentoring. Director Faris Godus led a directing class; screenwriter and director Amjad Al-Rasheed led a scripting and editing workshop; and producer Deema Azar led a production workshop.
