Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle 47,927 amphetamine (Captagon) pills through the Al-Haditha border crossing. The narcotics were discovered this hidden inside a truck’s consignment during a thorough inspection aided by advanced security screening technologies and trained detection teams.
According to ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi, the authority immediately coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), leading to the arrest of four individuals inside the Kingdom identified as the intended recipients of the contraband.
Al-Harbi reaffirmed ZATCA’s commitment to the preventing all forms of drug trafficking and enhancing border security through rigorous customs checks at land sea and air entry points. He emphasized that these efforts are part of the authority’s broader strategy to safeguard public health and social stability.
Al-Harbi stressed that the government is dedicated to strengthening customs oversight of the Kingdom’s imports and exports, combating smuggling attempts, and safeguarding the public from the illegal goods. This is consistent with the authority’s primary strategy pillar, which aims to improve societal security and protection by reducing efforts to smuggle such illegal goods and other forbidden.
