RIYADH: The Saudi Falcon Club’s auction season ended on Friday night, with over SR6 million ($1.6 million) sold over 45 days, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The auction, held at the club’s headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh, attracted 165 falconers and showcased 50 falcons from 30 locations across the Kingdom. The season’s highlight was a peregrine falcon chick from the Al-Dabdaba area of the Hafr Al-Batin governorate, which sold for SR400,000 on the sixth night, the event’s highest price.
The club held a closing ceremony with large rewards, including two automobiles and twenty cash awards totaling SR100,000 to encourage participants. Our efforts align with the leadership’s vision to protect and promote authentic falconry traditions while sustaining it as a hobby,” said club spokeswoman Waleed Al-Taweel.
This sale maintains our cultural history while also creating economic prospects in line with Vision 2030.
Al-Taweel emphasized the club’s transition of traditional falconry into a booming business sector, with its auction platform being the Kingdom’s largest official falcon marketplace, which is consistent with Vision 2030’s cultural and economic objectives.
“Our ambition is to make Saudi Arabia the premier destination for falcon enthusiasts and breeders,” he told me.
He also stressed the club’s commitment to market development and conservation, which includes controlling falcon trafficking and conserving endangered species through sales restrictions and awareness programs.
