On Monday, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom had a high-level meeting to discuss their ambitions to deepen their economic partnership and increase investment prospects. Business leaders and senior executives from both countries attended the Saudi-UK Business Roundtable 2024, which was attended by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Saudi Investment Minister Eng. Khalid Al-Falih, Prince Khalid bin Bandar, Saudi ambassador to the UK, Commerce Minister Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, and high-ranking British officials.
In keeping with Vision 2030’s objectives to diversify its economy and open up attractive investment sectors, the discussion covered bilateral opportunities in a number of fields, most notably financial services, clean energy, healthcare, innovation, education, and large projects.
Al Fanar Green Fuels in the UK, which will grow to be the most sustainable aviation fuel project of its sort in Europe, is one of the major initiatives in the energy industry that the two parties looked at to further efforts to reach carbon neutrality. Regarding healthcare, the two parties talked about the possibility of additional collaborative research and investments, as well as the possible involvement of British businesses in Saudi Arabia’s initiative to build 4,000 new primary health clinics. Another important sector that was ready for investment was academic exchange; there are already seven British schools in Riyadh, and that number will rise to ten. Additionally, 14,000 Saudi students are studying in Britain for higher education.
