Saudi Arabia Maintains That Syria Must be Free of any Attack Against its Sovereignty

RIYADH — The Saudi Council of Ministers emphasised that Syria must be free of terrorism and any threats to its sovereignty and territorial integrity. King Salman, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, presided over the Cabinet session in Riyadh on Tuesday.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary emphasised the Cabinet’s consideration of current regional and international issues. The Council commended the Kingdom’s recent ministerial meetings on Syria, which aim to provide humanitarian and economic assistance to the Syrian people while also assisting them in rebuilding Syria as a unified, independent, and secure nation for all of its citizens.

The Cabinet was briefed on the message King Salman received from Senegal President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, as well as the two phone calls received by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman from Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and Luiz Inácio Lula of Brazil.

The Cabinet reviewed the outcomes of the Crown Prince’s meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Saudi Greek Strategic Partnership Council, which included reviewing cooperation ties and ways to strengthen them in a variety of fields, as well as exchanging views on developments of mutual interest and ongoing efforts in this area.
