Driving Efficiency For Businesses With Kohola Data Solutions: Yoscel Shannon

Yoscel Shannon

A seasoned executive with over two decades of experience in the field of Data Science and Analytics, Yoscel Shannon is the Founder of Kohola Data Solutions. With expertise spanning energy, healthcare, and more, Yoscel specializes in leveraging AI and machine learning to drive business efficiency alongside strategic decision-making. With Kohola, Yoscel Shannon helps companies turn complex data into actionable insights, ensuring efficient decisions, and thrives on solving real-world business challenges.

Early Life And Educational Background

Growing up in Venezuela, Yoscel Shannon was fascinated by how physics and mathematics can illuminate what lies beneath the Earth’s surface. That curiosity led her to earn a B.S. in Geophysical Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar. After relocating to the United States, Yoscel Shannon completed an M.S. in Geophysics at the University of Oklahoma, then broadened my tool kit with a Post-Graduate Certificate in Data Science and Business Analytics from UT Austin’s McCombs School of Business.

I stay current through executive programs at MIT Sloan, including Artificial Intelligence for Business Strategy and Communicating Data through Storytelling. Over more than twenty years, this blend of geoscience, analytics, and business training has guided projects on five continents,” Yoscel Shannon shares.

More About Kohola Data Solutions

Yoscel founded Kohola Data Solutions in 2024 to help organizations move from ‘interesting data’ to measurable impact. The company’s mission is to deliver transparent, explainable, and scalable AI-driven insights that empower decision-makers in energy, healthcare, and retail. Each engagement focuses on:

  • Clarity: Translating complex analytics into language business leaders trust
  • Collaboration: Embedding cross-disciplinary teams so solutions gain traction
  • Continuity: Building solutions that clients can own and extend

She adds, “Recent work includes optimizing horizontal drilling programs, forecasting medication adherence, and boosting retail margins through sales history analysis generating demand forecasting.”

Leadership In The Field Of Data Science

Sharing her views on the qualities that define a successful leader in the data science and analytics industry, Yoscel Shannon mentions, “A leader in this field should have strategic curiosity such as to constantly scan for novel methods that unlock value while keeping business goals in view. Also, they need to have an understanding of the domain constraints so models address real pain points along with ethical rigor.”

She further believes that a leader should have great storytelling skills to turn analysis into a narrative driving the right action at the right time. A true leader strives to build solutions that are simple and fast, while their success is measured by the number of people the leader has empowered.

Adaptability To Latest Trends: Kohola’s Position

Kohola has adapted to recent advancements in artificial intelligence and machine-learning technologies. Yoscel Shannon shares that the company has deployed large-language-model agents that automate data ingestion, quality control, and rapid prototyping of standardized explainable AI practices with SHAP value reporting so domain experts can challenge and refine model logic. It has also designed a prototype multi-agent orchestration framework for End-to-End Oil and Gas Exploration workflow, with an anticipated turnaround time of about forty percent when implemented.

Words Of Wisdom For Beginners

Addressing the beginners in the data science landscape, Yoscel Shannon shares, “Stay curious and skeptical, by questioning every result and verifying them with sound statistics and domain knowledge. Moreover, master the foundations – statistics, linear algebra, and clean coding habits outlast any specific library. Never stop learning, in fact, listen to how different industries apply technology. Remember, cross-domain ideas often spark innovation.

Build a real-world portfolio – even volunteer projects demonstrate that you can turn concepts into outcomes and delegate wisely. Use agents and automation for repetitive tasks so you can focus on creative problem-solving. Define success before you begin – agree on metrics through education and active listening with stakeholders. Additionally, communication is the key to success for any idea, so communicate clearly. A concise plot or two-minute explanation often has more impact than the most complex model.”
