334,000 Saudi Residents Received AI Training

RIYADH: The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority reports that 334,000 Saudi nationals have benefited from a government initiative designed to equip them with artificial intelligence capabilities. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the “One Million Saudis in AI” initiative was launched in September 2024. On July 2, SDAIA head Abdullah Alghamdi gave a keynote address at the Non-Profit Sector Forum in Education and Training 2025 in Riyadh, highlighting the program’s salient aspects.

According to a recent Saudi Press Agency story, he claimed that the alliances the authority had established with other government organisations had placed the Kingdom in a worldwide position to empower women in AI and raise awareness of the community. The SAMAI program, which was introduced during the Global AI Summit, aims to reach people of all ages and occupations. Alghamdi also mentioned a number of national programs that came forth as a result of this partnership, such as the ATHKA Competition, also known as the National Olympiad for Programming and Artificial Intelligence.

According to him, 10,000 of the more than 260,000 male and female pupils from intermediate and secondary schools who took part advanced to the final round. One key initiative cited by the SDAIA chief was the “Road to ATHKA,” which trained more than 570,000 students on AI concepts. Another effort that educated more than 10,000 instructors was called “Future Intelligence Programmers.”
