The 8th Joint Ministerial Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Russia, held in Sochi on Thursday, expressed a robust condemnation of the assault by Israeli occupation forces on Qatar that occurred earlier this week.
In their joint statement, the participants described the assault as a clear violation of international laws and norms, a direct infringement on Qatar’s sovereignty, and a deliberate sabotage of diplomatic efforts to foster security and stability in the region.
They emphasized the need for a strong international response that calls for concrete steps to stop Israel’s ongoing abuses of international peace and security norms and holds the international community accountable on moral, political, and legal grounds.
The ministers urged the international community and the UN Security Council to enhance their efforts and meet their responsibilities by halting these attacks and ensuring their non-recurrence. They cautioned that permitting such actions to persist will exacerbate regional tensions, hinder prospects for long-term stability, and have considerable repercussions on both regional and global peace if suitable measures are not taken.
