Saudi and Russian Climate Envoys Hold Key Talks at UNGA

Saudi Arabia and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on climate and investment opportunities during the 80th UN General Assembly in New York. Adel Al-Jubeir Saudi Arabia’s minister of state for foreign affairs and climate envoy held talks with the Ruslan Edelgeriyev, Russian presidential aide and special representative for climate issues. Their discussions centered on environmental challenges global climate change efforts and the importance of coordinated international action.

The meeting comes as both nations look to deepen ND economic and strategic ties. Earlier this month, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, through Jazan City for Primary and Downstream Industries (JCPDI), carried out a five-day tour in Russia to attract potential investors. The delegation led by JCPDI CEO Hussain Fadhli met with several Russian companies to highlight the city’s modern infrastructure, investment incentives and competitive edge for industrial projects.

The Saudi initiative reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing push to diversify its economy, expand global partnerships, and play a stronger role in global climate dialogue.
