Professor Omar Yaghi, the distinguished Saudi scientist and 2025 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for his unwavering support throughout his scientific journey. Yaghi said this encouragement was the instrumental in helping him at achieve the prestigious award.
He praised the Saudi leadership for its commitment to fostering research, development, and innovation, as well as for supporting scientists across all disciplines. He also extended special thanks to the Crown Prince in his role as chairman of the Supreme Committee for Research, Development and Innovation highlighting that this milestone reflects the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030.
Yaghi acknowledged the vital role of played by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and its collaboration through the KACST-UC Berkeley Center of Excellence over the years.
As the founder of reticular chemistry, a revolutionary field with applications in energy, environment, water desalination, and carbon capture, Yaghi’s Nobel Prize marks the first for a Saudi scientist. He hopes this achievement will inspire future generations of Saudi and Arab youth to pursue research and innovation.
