RIYADH: According to the Saudi Press Agency on Sunday, the first Arab Music Conference announced a pan-Arab initiative to chronicle the Eastern vocal maqamat modal system within two years. The program’s goal is to give international music institutes a single point of reference.
Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, stated at the beginning of his speech at the AMC on Saturday in Riyadh that the conference was designed to address the demands of the Arab world’s creative and research landscapes.
A contemporary digital environment featuring mobile applications, interactive educational platforms, and open electronic libraries was demanded during the meeting. Additionally, it called for the establishment of a pan-Arab archival repository for historical and rare recordings.
Additionally, it will look at development paths that complement the Kingdom’s support of the arts. According to Alalshikh, in order to improve inclusion and strengthen Arab and Eastern musical content, the work should be expanded to include Eastern maqamat in Iran. The project comes after eight months of committee work in Turkiye and other Arab nations.
