Five Killed in Gaza as Severe Cold and Strong Winds Deepen Humanitarian Suffering

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip: At least four Palestinians displaced by the conflict in Gaza were killed when walls fell due to strong winter winds, according to medical officials on Tuesday. After more than two years of catastrophic Israeli shelling and a lack of relief, dangerous living conditions still exist in Gaza. Since October 10, there has been a ceasefire. However, humanitarian organizations claim that most Palestinians lack the shelter required to survive the severe winter storms.

The main hospital in Gaza City, Shifa Hospital, reported that two ladies, a girl, and a male were among the deceased. A 1-year-old boy passed away from hypothermia overnight, according to the Gaza Health Ministry on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the UN children’s agency spokesperson claimed that since the ceasefire started, more than 100 children and teenagers have been murdered by military means.

At least two of the six individuals sighted close to Israel’s troops in southern Gaza were killed in an exchange of gunfire on Tuesday in western Rafah, according to the Israeli military. On Tuesday, their relatives started clearing the debris that had buried their loved ones and reconstructing the survivors’ tent shelters.

Following the funeral, Bassel Hamouda remarked, “The world has allowed to witness death in all its forms.” We have seen every possible cause of death in the world in the Gaza Strip, even though the bombing may have temporarily stopped.
