How King Abdulaziz International Airport Achieved Its Highest Operational Performance Yet

JEDDAH: King Abdulaziz International Airport began 2026 on a high note, carrying 5.45 million passengers in January, up 7.3% from the same month last year. The number of flights increased by 11% to 29,200, while total baggage throughput increased by 8% to 6.6 million. From January 11 to 17, the airport had its busiest operational week, serving 1.28 million passengers.

Passenger numbers peaked on Jan. 17, when the airport had its busiest day ever, with 195,300 passengers and 1,089 flights, demonstrating the airport’s efficiency and infrastructure’s ability to manage rising travel demand.

These findings reflect Jeddah Airports Co.’s continued efforts to improve the passenger experience, broaden travel options, and manage increasing air traffic in accordance with the National Aviation Program and Saudi Vision 2030.

Since its inception in 2022, the business, known as JEDCO, has managed KAIA’s operations and overseen the development of the Aviation Program as part of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.

In 2025, the airport reached a historic milestone by hosting 53.4 million passengers, the biggest annual total ever recorded at a Saudi airport, ranking it among the world’s mega airports in terms of volume.
