SEOUL: According to state media on Tuesday, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un watched the test of a “new-type weapon” system, praising it as proof of the nation’s developing military technology. The announcement was made two days after South Korea and Japan reported that Pyongyang had fired two short-range ballistic missiles into waters off their east coast, which they denounced as a danger to regional security and peace.
North Korea’s leadership has consistently declared the nation’s atomic arsenal to be permanent and irreversible, legally solidifying its status as a nuclear-armed state. In front of its leader, Kim Jong Un, the nuclear-armed nation’s missile bureau “successfully tested a new type of weapon” on Sunday, according to Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
Pyongyang stated that Kim hailed the launch as “undoubtedly a striking demonstration of ultramodern defence technology,” but it did not elaborate on the nature of the missile system. According to KCNA, the North Korean leader issued a warning that the advancements will deal opponents “an incurable headache and a very cruel and unavoidable blow.
