A leader with more than three decades of experience and vision across all Real Estate sectors, like Adam Baskind, is rare. Over the years, he has led through senior leadership roles, driving business growth and transformation. As CEO of Blossom Tree Group, he has actively shaped its position in the industry, driven by a commitment to deliver lasting impact.
Vision that Sparked the Journey
Adam began his career in venture capital and, over the past 30 years, has worked across a broad range of sectors, with a particular industry, investment, real estate and financial services. Throughout his career, a consistent theme has been identifying opportunities to improve performance, create and add value, build and lead teams through periods of growth and change.
He states, “Within real estate, my experience has covered all sectors including residential, commercial, hospitality, retail, mixed-use development, construction, investment and asset management. I have also served as CEO of several financial services businesses across development finance, bridging and buy-to-let lending. During the financial crisis, I was appointed as turnaround CEO for many major property and investment businesses on behalf of global banks, funds and other stakeholders.”
Alongside real estate, Adam has worked across sectors including technology, fintech, manufacturing, FMCG and alternative investments. This wider commercial and investment background has shaped the way he approaches real estate today, particularly the importance of looking beyond the asset itself and understanding the financial, operational, and strategic factors that ultimately determine its performance.

Over the years, these experiences helped him develop a strong understanding of the different objectives and expectations international investors can have when deploying and managing capital across different real estate markets. This offered him significant exposure to investors, family offices, and stakeholders across the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
“That experience ultimately led to my current role as CEO of Blossom Tree Group, where we work across the UK, Europe and the Middle East, advising and working alongside family offices, funds, investors and institutional clients across real estate asset management and investment. Whilst much of our focus is on improving performance within our clients’ existing portfolios, we are always identifying new opportunities where we can improve the performance and long-term value of assets,” Adam mentioned.
Leading with a Purpose
From leading the team, working through challenges, and identifying opportunities for growth, both within Blossom Tree Group and across the assets and portfolios they manage, Adam’s daily responsibilities mainly revolve around overseeing the day-to-day operations and the Group’s growth.
He spends a significant amount of his time daily working directly with clients, understanding their objectives, and helping them develop strategies around their existing portfolios and the most effective deployment of capital. Many of the Group’s clients have assets that they have either inherited or held for a considerable period of time, which may no longer be performing to their full potential. In these situations, Adam works closely with his team to develop bespoke solutions that can improve performance and create long-term value.
He adds, “This can be particularly important when working with international clients who have significant real estate interests in the UK or Europe but do not necessarily have the experience or infrastructure on the ground to oversee every aspect of those investments. Because we are a unique company, not only do we have our own asset management and property management divisions, but we also have our own construction and facilities management businesses within the group. In those situations, our role extends far beyond traditional asset management. We bring together the investment, operational, property management, construction, and commercial expertise required to look at the asset as a whole and represent our client’s interests locally.”
For Adam, the most meaningful part is the problem-solving and value-add that they bring. As every asset and client presents a different set of circumstances, there is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution. He enjoys working through those challenges and seeing the results he can achieve for the clients along with his team. “Equally, I find it incredibly rewarding to see our team develop through those successes and the experiences we all gain along the way,” he comments.
Adaptability Amidst Technological Shifts
Adam believes one of the greatest benefits of AI is the reduction in time spent on manual research and reporting. It helps in covering significantly more ground in a shorter period of time, be it gathering data to support an investment recommendation, analysing an asset, or producing reports for clients.
However, AI is only as effective as the instructions and information behind it. The quality of the prompting, the clarity of the brief and, importantly, the verification of the information it produces are all critical. Recently, Adam has shifted his focus to ensure that both he and the wider team have the right training to use AI effectively. By undertaking multiple training sessions, he and his team are working on developing an in-depth understanding of the different tools available, how to use them appropriately, and where they can genuinely improve the way we work.
As AI is still developing rapidly, Adam ensures to double check and, where necessary, triple-checks the information being generated. He firmly believes confidentiality and the protection of client information are also extremely important considerations in how these tools are used.
He explains, “The impact also differs across the various areas of our business. Within asset and investment management, AI can assist with research, analysis and reporting, whereas within our construction and facility management division there are opportunities around areas such as procurement and project management.
For us, it is ultimately about using AI to improve efficiency and enhance the way we work, rather than replacing the knowledge, judgement and experience that sit behind the decisions we make.”
Skills that Fuel Success
Adam began his career in venture capital, and throughout his career he has worked across both real estate and more traditional businesses and industries. Having that broader background has been extremely valuable because it has given him experience of seeing how different sectors respond to significant changes caused by rapid enhancement of technology.
Earlier in his career, Adam was involved with businesses during the emergence of e-commerce and the internet, as well as working across fast-moving consumer goods, financial services, leading to tech-related business and fintech. Experiencing those changes firsthand taught him the importance of being able to adapt quickly and understand how new technology can be applied commercially rather than simply adopting it because it is new.
That experience has been particularly relevant for Adam as technology and AI have become increasingly important within real estate and asset management. He comments, “Historically, these industries have not always been at the forefront of technological change, so having experience from sectors that have already undergone significant transformation has helped both me and the team identify where new tools can genuinely add value and adopt them relatively quickly.”
Message to Beginners
Addressing the professionals who are looking to build a strong, future-ready career in his field, Adam shares, “I think the key is to develop as broad an understanding as possible of what makes a successful real estate investment. It is not simply about how much capital you deploy or where you deploy it. You need to understand the different elements that ultimately determine whether an investment succeeds.
That means developing a good understanding of finance and investment, construction where relevant, corporate governance and structure, sales and marketing, legal considerations and taxation. You also need to understand the exit strategy from the outset and whether that strategy is genuinely deliverable.
One thing my experience has taught me is that you cannot look at a property investment in isolation. The financial structure, physical asset, occupiers, operations, market positioning and eventual exit are all interconnected. Understanding how those elements work together is what ultimately allows you to identify opportunities that may otherwise be overlooked.”
He even adds, “I also think it is increasingly important to have a broad understanding of the different sectors within real estate. Traditionally, people have often specialised very early in areas such as commercial offices, residential or hospitality. Specialising in sector specifics remains valuable, but family offices and institutional investors increasingly look across a wider range of assets as they diversify their portfolios and respond to opportunities in the market. Having an understanding of how different sectors operate can therefore be extremely valuable in creating a balanced and successful portfolio.
Remember that you can always bring in additional sector-specific advice where needed.
Finally, I would not underestimate the importance of people skills. We now have incredibly fast ways of communicating, whether through email, messaging, or other digital platforms, but the ability to build relationships has not become any less important. Understanding a client’s objectives, listening to what problems they need solving, and developing a solution around those needs is very different from simply trying to sell them the next product or opportunity, which we never do. The most important aspect is for your interests to align with those of your clients.”
