Saudi Arabia's Defense Minister Meets Haluk Gorgun, President of Turkey's Defense Industry Agency

Saudi Arabia’s defense minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, met with the leaders of top Turkish businesses and Haluk Gorgun, the president of the Defense Industry Agency, on Wednesday in Istanbul as part of an official visit to Turkiye.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, they discussed prospects for collaboration in the defense and military domains, in keeping with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy for economic growth and diversification.

The prince also saw the signing of other contracts between Turkish and Saudi businesses. Additionally, he paid visits to Turkish Aerospace Industries’ Ankara headquarters and the Turkish defense firm Baykar’s Istanbul headquarters.

“During my visit to Turkiye, I had the opportunity to see the capabilities of several leading companies in the space and defense industries,” he wrote in a message shared on the social networking platform X. I looked at their most recent technological endeavors, cutting-edge products, and long-term goals and tactics.

Tuesday marked the start of Prince Khalid’s trip to Turkiye. In Ankara, he met with representatives of the Turkish defense business Aselsan, who gave him an update on their projects and most recent goods and services.

Lt. Gen. Fayyadh Al-Ruwaili, the chief of staff of the Saudi Arabian military, Talal Al-Otaibi, Khalid Al-Bayari, the assistant minister of defense for executive affairs, and Fahad Abualnasr, the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Turkey, accompanied the minister.
