A Significant Tourist Initiative was Launched in the Al-Ahsa Area

RIYADH: On Wednesday night, Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, the governor of Al-Ahsa, lay the foundation stone to begin building on a significant new resort project officially. The ceremony for the Dusit D2 Al-Ahsa resort was attended by a number of government officials, investors, and representatives from the Tourism Fund and the Al-Ahsa Development Authority.

It will be situated in Al-Ahsa Oasis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering more than 77,000 square meters. In addition to 120 opulent hotel rooms, it will have a cultural centre, restaurants, a fitness club, a man-made lake, natural walks, and leisure spaces.

The resort will be partially powered by solar energy and will have electric internal transportation, water purification, and low-carbon building materials. A SR60 million ($15.995 million) project was also launched to enhance the region’s water supply in preparation for the tourism season.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, Prince Saud expressed delight in Al-Ahsa’s quick expansion of high-quality tourism projects, which together contribute to the city’s standing as a desirable tourist destination in the Kingdom.
