RIYADH: According to a top Kingdom official, Saudi Arabia has cut prices by 50% and increased desalination efficiency by 80% in recent years.
“The progress we have made in producing desalinated water over the past eight years is comparable to what we have accomplished over the last forty years,” stated Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti, Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, he described the achievements during the 2025 Budget Forum held in Riyadh by the Ministry of Finance, referring to the advancement as a “historic milestone” for the Kingdom.
According to him, the amount of desalinated water produced each day has increased to 6 million cubic meters, which adds to the daily capacity of 11.3 million cubic meters.
According to the deputy minister, the enhancement demonstrates the Kingdom’s dedication to environmental sustainability, water security, and Vision 2030.
He emphasized the enormous scope of the Kingdom’s water infrastructure, pointing out that water must be delivered over thousands of kilometers because water production facilities are mostly found along the shore.
