Al-Sharaa Expresses Sympathy to Trump After Death of Three Americans

DAMASCUS: Following the unfortunate deaths of American servicemen in the Homs countryside on Saturday, Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa has offered US President Donald Trump his sincere condolences. On behalf of the Syrian Arab Republic, I extend my sincere sympathy to the families of the fallen soldiers and to the American people,” Al-Sharaa wrote in a letter to Trump.

According to him, Syria categorically denounced the assault and reiterated its dedication to maintaining peace and stability both within Syria and throughout the region. Following the terrorist attack by an operative connected to Daesh, the Interior Ministry reported that its forces had conducted a “qualitative and decisive security operation” in the city of Palmyra.

The ministry stated in a statement that the operation was based on accurate intelligence data and was carried out in complete collaboration with the General Intelligence Directorate and international coalition forces. Five individuals were reportedly taken into custody and placed under investigation immediately.

Targeting state institutions “will not go unanswered,” the ministry emphasized, adding that security agencies were fully prepared and highly capable of pursuing terrorist groups wherever they were found and striking with an “iron fist” anyone who posed a threat to Syria’s security and stability.
