RIYADH: Tarjama is changing the game in a market dominated by huge language models that prioritise English. The software startup from the United Arab Emirates debuted its Arabic version today. Based on the Pronoia V2 Arabic-first big language model, the AI platform asserts that it has surpassed industry giants DeepSeek, Cohere, and ChatGPT on important Arabic benchmarks. Pronoia is marketed as a tool for a variety of applications, such as legal analysis, translation, and proposal writing, and is made to process Arabic with almost human comprehension.
Andrii Klyman, senior AI product manager at Tarjama, told Arab News at a recent event in Riyadh, “ChatGPT 4o can’t compete with this small model for specific niche tasks. That was a big surprise for us.” In a statement, founder Nour Al-Hassan said: “Arabic has been neglected in the global AI environment for far too long. “An autonomous system that truly comprehends the subtleties of Arabic across various dialects and contexts is something we’ve built that is fundamentally different.”
Pronoia V2 outperformed GPT-4o by over 18 percentage points, with an average score of 76.8% across Arabic language benchmarks. Although the model is capable of handling multilingual material, high-context Arabic is where it excels. On top of it, Tarjama has already created a number of apps, such as a legal contract analyser, word checker, and its most current interface, Arabic. AI: A business-oriented tool.
