Held from September 9 to 13, in Jeddah, by the General Organisation for Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles in the Red Sea, or SHAMS, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to safeguarding coral reefs and marine environments during the Red Sea Coral Reef Forum.
The Saudi Press Agency said on Tuesday that the Kingdom’s stance is in line with sustainable development goals and will undoubtedly cement its position as a global leader in the preservation of natural resources and the protection of the environment.
The 38th International Coral Reef Initiative meeting, which brings together a wide range of specialists, environmental scientists, policymakers, college students, and enthusiasts for the marine environment, takes place concurrently with the forum.
According to SHAMS CEO Khaled Asfahani, the forum is part of ongoing efforts to protect marine environments, address issues affecting Red Sea coral reefs, and discuss practical protection measures. He urged increased cooperation to protect marine ecosystems, both in the Red Sea and worldwide, with the aim of protecting natural heritage.
