Authorities in Saudi Arabia Issue a Severe Weather Alert.

According to Saudi authorities, most of the Kingdom will see severe weather until Friday.

On Monday, the National Center of Meteorology predicted severe winds, hail, and thunder along with moderate-to-heavy rain in the provinces of Madinah, Makkah, Jeddah, Baha, and Najran. As the nation prepares for intense rain in the next days, Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense has also issued severe weather warnings and safety instructions. According to the Civil Defense, till Friday, most of the Kingdom will see severe gusts and moderate-to-torrential thundershowers.

Asir, Baha, Makkah, Madinah, Jazan, Qassim, Jouf, Hail, Tabuk, Northern Borders, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province are among the regions that would be impacted.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense has advised people to take safety measures, stay inside during inclement weather, and follow its directions.

Schools in the regions of Jeddah, Makkah, and Madinah used the Madrasati remote learning platform on Monday to transition to online instruction following officials’ warnings about storms and potential flooding this week.

Exams were postponed till further notice at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, University of Jeddah, University of Taif, and Umm Al Qura University in Makkah, all of which were closed on Monday.
