YANBU: According to the Saudi Press Agency, five citizens were saved by Saudi Arabia’s Border Guard search and rescue teams in Yanbu governorate, Madinah Region, after their boat broke down at sea. The rescue comes as the Border Guard has increased maritime safety awareness campaigns around the Kingdom in recent weeks, advising beachgoers and those who enjoy marine activities to follow safety rules and take precautions before sailing.
In order to raise awareness of drowning prevention, safe maritime practices, vessel safety, and the efforts of its search and rescue teams, the directorate has organized exhibitions and awareness events in a number of places.
The events took place on July 25, which is World Drowning Prevention Day every year. In addition to awareness displays and advice for swimsuits and marine activity practitioners, the campaign featured training sessions on swimming and rescue techniques, as well as warnings about keeping an eye on kids and adhering to safety regulations.
The Border Guard’s awareness display in Jazan, which ended on July 28, focused on rules for beachgoers, consequences for swimming in unapproved locations, and safety precautions for those heading out to sea. From August 11 to August 15, Abha hosted a comparable display.
